World Cup 2014 Qualifiers - Asia: Tickets for South Korea and Australia
After the penultimate round of matches last night ended, the opportunity to win a ticket straight to Brazil next year is wide open before Korea and Japan.
South Korea only need one more point to qualify for Brazil.
Detailed results of last night's matches
Iran4-0 Lebanon
Iraq 0-1Japan
Korea1-0 Uzbekistan
Australia4-0 Jordan
Group A: Iran waiting for the "final"
South Korea’s hopes of an early qualification spot were dashed. In their opening game, South Korea beat Uzbekistan 1-0. If Iran loses to Lebanon in Tehran, the Korean team will have a direct ticket to Brazil next summer.
However, that scenario did not happen. Iran's 4-0 victory forced South Korea to enter the "final" between the two teams on June 18.
For South Korea, they only need one more point to maintain their top position. Meanwhile, Iran must win to have a chance to directly qualify for the World Cup next year.
Iran is currently only 2 points ahead of the 3rd-placed Uzbekistan. While Iran has to face South Korea, Uzbekistan's opponent in this decisive match, Qatar, has run out of motivation to compete. Therefore, Iran is at risk of losing the 2nd place to Uzbekistan in the final match.

18-06-2013 21:00 KOREA vs IRAN
Group B: Australia has a wide road
With a 4-0 home win over Jordan, Australia climbed to second place with 10 points. The team from the land of kangaroos is considered to have the best chance of advancing in this group, after Japan, who have already qualified for Brazil.
The joy of victory of Australian players
In the final match on June 18, Australia has a good chance of winning, because their opponent is Iraq, who is at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Oman will have a hard time because Jordan is only 2 points behind them. Surely, Jordan is aiming for 3rd place to keep their hope of reaching Brazil through the play-off.
After the final round of matches, the two third-placed teams will play each other in a home-and-away format to qualify for the intercontinental play-off round with representatives from the CONMEBOL region (South America).
