Consultation workshop on programs related to ethnic affairs
On the morning of June 22nd, in Vinh City, the Central Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, in coordination with the Provincial People's Committee, organized a consultation workshop to develop a circular guiding the implementation of Program 135 and the Action Program for the implementation of the ethnic affairs strategy until 2020. Attending the workshop were Deputy Ministers and Vice Chairmen of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs: Hoang Xuan Luong and Son Phuoc Hoan; representatives from relevant ministries, departments, and agencies; and leaders of provinces involved in Program 135.

At the workshop, the head of the Program 135 Coordination Office presented the Joint Circular between the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; guiding the implementation of Program 135 on supporting infrastructure investment and production development for especially difficult communes, border communes, security zone communes, and especially difficult villages and hamlets. Based on this joint circular and according to their functions and duties, relevant central agencies will provide guidance and specify necessary contents. They will also address transitional issues to ensure that the implementation of the new guiding circular does not disrupt or delay the program's progress.
The Head of the Planning and Finance Department presented the draft Action Program for implementing the ethnic affairs strategy until 2020. The program aims to concretize the main tasks and solutions outlined in Decision 449 dated March 12, 2013, of the Prime Minister approving the ethnic affairs strategy until 2020, towards the following goals: comprehensive, rapid, and sustainable socio-economic development; accelerating poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas, narrowing the development gap between ethnic groups; gradually reducing the number of particularly disadvantaged areas; gradually forming economic, cultural, and scientific centers; developing human resources, increasing the number and improving the quality of cadres in ethnic minority areas; consolidating the grassroots political system; maintaining national unity and ensuring national defense and security stability.
