China-ASEAN People's High-Level Dialogue Forum

The forum revolved around the theme of Peace promoting development, win-win cooperation.

On June 3, the China-ASEAN People's High-Level Dialogue Forum took place in Nanning City, Guangxi, China. Attending the Forum were Politburo member, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Liu Qibao, Vice President of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association Bui Hong Phuc, Chairman of the People's Mind Party, former Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian Army Wiranto, and Chinese scholars, researchers, and delegates from ASEAN countries...

The theme of the Forum is "Peace promotes development, win-win cooperation - the common aspiration and common dream of the people of China and Southeast Asia".

Overview of the Forum

Speaking at the Forum, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Liu Qibao highly appreciated people-to-people exchanges, affirming that this is an extremely effective means to promote friendship between China and ASEAN countries.

Mr. Liu Qibao said: China and ASEAN countries are geographically close and have many similarities in culture and customs. This is a good condition to promote cooperation between China and ASEAN.

Mr. Liu Qibao put forward four proposals: First, persist in solidarity and mutual trust, strengthen dialogue and consultation; second, persist in win-win cooperation, and share the fruits of development; third, persist in learning and consulting with each other, and promote common progress; fourth, persist in people-to-people friendship, and consolidate the foundation of state-to-state relations.

Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Nong Lap Phu, Permanent Deputy Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, emphasized the role of Guangxi in people-to-people exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.

The forum also discussed the topics of "Uniting Public Opinions, Further Promoting China-Southeast Asia Relations", "New Measures in Practical Cooperation" and "Governments and Peoples Joining Hands: A Force for Promoting Regional Peace and Development".

In his speech, Vice President of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association Bui Hong Phuc stated that, on the basis of taking the people as the root, the Party and State of Vietnam always attach importance to people's foreign affairs, always considering people's foreign affairs as an integral part of the country's overall foreign affairs.

In addition, the presentations of the Philippines and Thailand also frankly mentioned the issue of sovereignty disputes in the East Sea between China and ASEAN countries, as well as the negative environmental impacts of Chinese enterprises investing in ASEAN.

Within the framework of the Forum, many other activities also took place, including the ASEAN-China youth exchange camp with the participation of youth delegations from Vietnam and ASEAN countries.

China attaches great importance to the China-ASEAN People's High-Level Dialogue Forum. In the context of many difficult issues between the Chinese Government and the ASEAN Government, the role of people-to-people exchanges becomes even more important, contributing to creating a friendly atmosphere and promoting relations between China and ASEAN countries./.
