On June 1st, during his visit to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

During the talks, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction and energy development.

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has a developed oil and gas industry. Therefore, China's increased cooperation in the energy sector with Trinidad and Tobago is driven by the hope that the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago can become a new energy hub for the world's second-largest economy, which is hungry for energy.

Caribbean countries, including the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, are English-speaking nations geographically distant from China. However, with its "comprehensive and multilateral" foreign policy, China seeks to extend its influence even to the most remote countries.

This is President Xi Jinping's second overseas trip after his visit to Russia. He is accompanied by representatives from many major businesses.

Following his visit to the Americas, President Xi Jinping will travel to the United States. During this visit, President Xi Jinping and President Obama are expected to focus their discussions on the relationship between the "new type of two great powers."

This concept, stemming from China's expansionist diplomatic policy, is rather vague but reflects China's desire to "stand shoulder to shoulder" with the United States on certain international issues.

According to analysts, this reflects China's "ambition" to exert its influence in the world and to realize the "Chinese Dream."
