(Baonghean.vn) - Overcoming poverty to study well is difficult, but overcoming difficult circumstances to study well and become a party member while still a high school student is something that few students can do. Ngo Van Giap, a student at Do Luong 1 High School, has done it.

The dilapidated house is located close to the Lam River bank. To get in, you have to go down a steep slope in a narrow alley. This piece of land and house is also the love of the villagers of Dang Son commune who built it for Ngo Van Giap's family. The property is not valuable and the fire only burns at dusk. Without the mother's care, the house is even colder.

His father died two years ago of a serious illness without money for medical treatment. His mother had to work in Hanoi every month to earn money to send home for his two brothers to study. However, with the support and sharing of neighbors and friends, Giap's two brothers were both good students.

I am Ngo Van Giap.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong - Head of Women's Association, Hamlet 7, Dang Son Commune, Do Luong confided:Giap was from a poor family, obedient and studious. In their free time or on holidays, the two brothers would go down to the river together to fish and find food. Everyone in the village loved and helped the two brothers.

In such circumstances, many children may give up, but for Ngo Van Giap, difficulties create more will and determination in him. Since his father passed away, Giap has aged before his time. He has clearly defined his role in the family, taking care of his own life and studying well to set an example for his younger siblings. After school, Giap goes to the fields to catch crabs and fish in the river. In his garden, he takes advantage of growing vegetables, and neighbors help him with money and rice. That love has helped him overcome difficult times. Despite the difficulties, Giap, who is quite good at English, also organizes free English tutoring classes at home for his friends and children in the neighborhood. Giap confided: "I always try to keep my determination, to study well to have a place in society, to find a job to be able to support my mother and younger siblings."

During the first days of studying at Do Luong 1 High School, Giap thought he would have to drop out, but his will and determination, along with the encouragement of teachers and friends, helped him overcome. During his 3 years of study, he was an excellent student in the province in English. He won first prize in the provincial excellent student competition, first prize in the provincial English team competition for grades 10 and 11; and third prize in English at the provincial level in grade 12.

With the will and determination to rise up in life, from the results of his studies at school, in the 2012-2013 school year, Ngo Van Giap was honored to join the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam. April 20, 2013 was a memorable day, the day Giap and his friends were preparing for the graduation and university exams, and also the day he became a Party member. The lecture hall is ahead, the future is wide open for Ngo Van Giap, who has overcome difficulties to live well./.
