According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Phnom Penh, on the morning of August 12, the Cambodian National Election Committee (NEC) announced the preliminary results of the fifth parliamentary election, showing that the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won the most votes, while the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) came in second.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Phnom Penh, on the morning of August 12, the Cambodian National Election Committee (NEC) announced the preliminary results of the fifth parliamentary election, showing that the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won the most votes, while the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) came in second.

According to the NEC announcement, in the July 28th election, the CPP party won 3,236,009 votes, followed by the CNRP party with 2,945,676 votes, with the remaining votes going to the other six participating parties.

However, the NEC has not yet announced the specific number of seats each party won.

Analysts believe that with the votes received, the CPP has achieved a clear majority in the new National Assembly and will continue to hold power. The results will be reviewed and challenged by the parties within 72 hours.

According to NEC Secretary General Tep Nytha, NEC will announce the final results before September 8th.

Following the July 28th election, both the CPP and CNRP claimed victory. The CPP asserted that it won 68 seats compared to the CNRP's 55, while the CNRP claimed 63 seats compared to the CPP's 60.

Immediately after the NEC announced the preliminary results, the CNRP announced it would hold a press conference to state the opposition's reaction.
