On March 8 (local time), a delegation representing the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam led by Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai attended the funeral of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias in the capital city of Caracas.

The delegation included leaders of the Central External Relations Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Government Office, Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, and Vietnam Friendship Association.

The Vietnamese delegation attended the funeral with nearly 60 delegations of heads of state, representatives of countries, international organizations around the world and more than 400 other foreign agencies and organizations. At the Bolivar Military Academy, where the official funeral took place in recent days, millions of peopleVenezuelaand international friends came to say goodbye to President Hugo Chavez.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai conveyed to the relatives of President Hugo Chavez, the leaders of the Government, National Assembly and people of Venezuela the deepest condolences of the leaders of the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam, emphasizing that the passing of President Hugo Chavez is a great loss for the country and people of Venezuela, Vietnam has lost a great and close friend who had been close to the people of Vietnam during the difficult and arduous years; affirmed that the people of Vietnam will never forget the support and extremely valuable contributions of President Hugo Chavez and the people of Venezuela to the cause of the struggle for independence, unification and national construction of the people of Vietnam and will do their utmost together with the leaders and people of Venezuela to continue to strengthen solidarity, preserve and promote the tradition of good relations between the two countries that President Hugo Chavez and generations of leaders and people of the two countries have worked hard to cultivate.

Sharing the great loss of the country and people of Venezuela, Vietnam pledges to continue strengthening bilateral relations with Venezuela, tightening and deepening the traditional brotherly relationship and good multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

Reading the eulogy at the funeral, Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro highlighted the great contributions of the late President Hugo Chavez in his leadership of Venezuela, affirming the deep gratitude of all Venezuelan people and the close affection and attachment of leaders of many countries and international organizations around the world towards President Hugo Chavez.

On behalf of the StateVenezuelaVice President Nicolas Maduro expressed his gratitude for the condolences and messages of condolences from leaders of various countries and the attendance at President Hugo Chavez's funeral by delegations from all over the world.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro placed a replica of the golden sword of national hero Simon Bolivar on President Hugo Chavez's coffin. Along with the entire family of the late President Hugo Chavez, Nicolas Maduro and top officials in the Venezuelan Government held the sword tightly, expressing their condolences and respect for the beloved President of the Venezuelan people.
