Mr. Medvedev: Russia wants Vietnam to raise its position

According to VNA Special Envoy, during the official visit to the Russian Federation, on the evening of March 11, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed his pleasure to officially visit the beautiful and hospitable country of Russia, to witness the prosperous development of Russia with his own eyes; he believed that under the wise leadership of the Prime Minister, the Russian Government would continue to gain even greater achievements in the cause of building the country to become increasingly prosperous and have a worthy position in the world.

Informing Prime Minister Medvedev about the good results of his talks with the Chairman of the Russian Federation Council; the two sides agreed on measures to further promote parliamentary relations between the two countries, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always does its best to preserve and further develop the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung welcomed the two countries' development of annual action plans, which significantly contribute to implementing high-level agreements reached within the scope of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, especially in the fields of security-defense, military-technical, culture, education, science and technology, etc.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung also suggested that the two sides accelerate the signing of the FTA between Vietnam and the Customs Union (including Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus) within the next two years, contributing to realizing the goal of raising two-way trade turnover to 7 billion USD in 2015.

Warmly welcoming National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly on their official visit to the Russian Federation, Prime Minister Medvedev said that the visit is of great significance, contributing positively to promoting the friendly and cooperative relations between the parliaments and people of the two countries.

Appreciating Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development, Prime Minister Medvedev also expressed his satisfaction with the good development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, which is increasingly deepening and bringing practical results for the benefit of each side, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Prime Minister Medvedev suggested that the two countries maintain high-level delegation exchanges; strengthen cooperation at the State and local levels. The two sides also need to continue to prioritize cooperation in the fields of science and technology such as nanotechnology, information technology, laser technology, new materials, etc. and strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, training, culture and tourism.

Satisfied with the results of the talks between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian Federation Council, Prime Minister Medvedev suggested that the two countries' National Assemblies further promote cooperation and exchanges in both legislative work and supervision of cooperation programs and projects between the two governments; and continuously build bilateral relations to achieve new achievements.

Prime Minister Medvedev also affirmed that the Russian Federation always supports and promotes cooperation with Vietnam in socio-economic development, constantly improving its position in the region and the world for peace, friendship and development.

On the same evening, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung met with Chairman of the State Duma (the Russian Lower House) Sergei Naryshkin at the Russian State Duma headquarters.

Thanking the Chairman and the State Duma of Russia for the warm and friendly reception, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung was pleased to inform Mr. Sergei Naryshkin of the results of his talks with the Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia. The two sides discussed in a frank and trusting spirit many issues in bilateral and multilateral relations and agreed on measures to further promote parliamentary relations between the two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed his delight at the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma, creating a legal basis for enhancing bilateral cooperation, exchanging legislative and supervisory experiences, and exchanging documents and information on the organization and operation of the two countries' legislative bodies.

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on his official visit to the Russian Federation; he said that the Russian State Duma always prioritizes and promotes cooperation with Vietnam in all fields, in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership that the two countries have established.

In the spirit of the Cooperation Agreement, the Legislative Bodies of the two countries will establish and expand exchanges and contacts in the political, legal, social, economic and humanitarian fields; establish regular contacts between committees, boards, groups of National Assembly deputies, and the National Assembly Offices of the two sides; exchange delegations to study and survey the drafting process and legal documents, and experience in parliamentary activities.

Also within the framework of the visit, on the evening of the same day, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung met with Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov. At the meeting, the two sides agreed to further promote the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Russia to become deeper and more effective, on the basis of mutual respect and understanding. Continue to maintain delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels, to exchange information and enhance understanding, promote the development of relations between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

On the same evening, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung received Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association Buianov; successfully concluding activities within the framework of the official visit to the Russian Federation./.
