Chinese ships enter waters disputed with Japan.

AFP reported that the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) announced that three Chinese maritime surveillance vessels entered the territorial waters surrounding the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea on the morning of July 18.

According to the JCG, at 09:30 (00:30 GMT), these three coast guard vessels entered the 12-nautical-mile zone, which is considered the territorial waters of the Senkaku Islands.

This move comes a day after Prime Minister Shizo Abe visited the Joint Chiefs of Police (JCG), the force responsible for patrolling and protecting the area.
