According to research results from experts at the National Cancer Institute (USA), the use of the urinary tract treatment drug finasteride can reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men by up to 30%, while not promoting the growth of tumors or increasing the risk of death in patients.

A team of scientists led by Dr. Ian Thompson - a cancer treatment expert - conducted a multi-year study on more than 18,000 men aged 55 and over who used finasteride. The results showed that only about 10% of those who used finasteride developed prostate cancer, while the rate of disease in those who did not use the drug was 15%.

Dr. Michael LeFevre, a member of the research team, said that using finasteride to treat urinary tract diseases in men is completely appropriate and does not cause serious side effects. However, according to him, users of this drug can fall into a state of fatigue, even weakness and significantly reduce sexual desire. Therefore, men need to consider carefully before deciding to use this drug.

In the US, about 240,000 people are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, of which about 30,000 die. The results of this study may provide a new perspective on the use of cancer prevention drugs./.
