The generosity of the provincial leader.
On the afternoon of February 1st, 2013, I was fortunate to accompany Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with a delegation of leaders from several departments and agencies, to extend New Year greetings to healthcare units, armed forces, and families of policy beneficiaries. Wherever we went, in addition to giving gifts and New Year greetings, the Provincial Party Secretary also took the time to understand and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of everyone, especially those from disadvantaged families of policy beneficiaries.
(Baonghean)On the afternoon of February 1st, 2013, I was fortunate to accompany Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with a delegation of leaders from several departments and agencies, to extend New Year greetings to healthcare units, armed forces, and families of policy beneficiaries. Wherever we went, in addition to giving gifts and New Year greetings, the Provincial Party Secretary also took the time to understand and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of everyone, especially those from disadvantaged families of policy beneficiaries.
During a visit to present gifts to the medical staff and some patients at the Oncology Hospital, the Provincial Party Secretary was deeply moved to witness the presence of many seriously ill patients requiring long-term treatment, most of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds and live in extremely cramped conditions. Many patients even have to lie in the corridors. The Provincial Party Secretary reminded the Director of the Department of Health and the hospital leadership to strive to provide the best care for the patients; the doctors and nurses must serve wholeheartedly and strive to be a source of emotional support for the patients. The Provincial Party Secretary was very saddened that the gift-giving was inadequate, with only 15 gift packages available, while there are many patients suffering from serious illnesses and facing severe economic hardship.
Leaving the Oncology Hospital with a heavy heart and a lingering sense of unease, the Provincial Party Secretary continuously made phone calls and contacted sponsors and businesses, appealing for their support and assistance. Fortunately, one sponsor volunteered to donate 250 gift packages, each worth 1 million VND, to 250 patients undergoing treatment at the Oncology Hospital.
Despite the busy end-of-year schedule, the Provincial Party Secretary immediately returned to the Oncology Hospital with the delegation and the sponsors to present gifts to the patients.
A lung cancer patient said tearfully, “I am deeply moved by the special attention shown by the highest-ranking provincial leader. I feel warm-hearted and grateful to the Party and the State for caring for patients like us. Meeting him for the first time, I found the Provincial Party Secretary to be very approachable…”
Leaving the Oncology Hospital, we carried with us an indescribable joy. Although countless difficulties still lie ahead, this Tet holiday, the seriously ill patients being treated at the Oncology Hospital have felt warmer inside.
