Vietnam wins 7 excellent vocational certificates in Leipzig

On the evening of July 7, at the Leipzig Fair, Leipzig city, Federal Republic of Germany, the 42nd WorldSkills Competition officially ended with a modern and spectacular closing program.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ngoc Phi, leaders of the General Department of Vocational Training of Vietnam and the Vietnamese contestants attended the closing ceremony.

This year's WorldSkills Competition in Leipzig witnessed the rise of East Asian countries with many awards for contestants from Korea and Japan, with Korea leading the entire delegation with 23 medals of all kinds, including 12 gold medals.

In the ASEAN region, Thailand and Singapore also won gold medals. In Europe, Switzerland took the top spot with a total of 17 medals, including 9 gold medals. Brazil, the host country of the next competition in 2015, also took the top spot with a total of 15 medals, including 4 gold medals.

In an interview with VNA reporters in Germany, Associate Professor Dr. Cao Van Sam, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vocational Training, said the Vietnamese delegation participated in the competition with 13 contestants in 12 different professions. At the competition, the Vietnamese contestants showed remarkable maturity and mastered the competition. All contestants completed the exam well and won 7 excellent vocational certificates.

According to Mr. Sam, this is the fourth consecutive time that the Vietnamese delegation has participated in the World Skills Competition. By participating in this competition, the Vietnamese delegation continues to affirm its integration into global skills, demonstrating its role, mettle and position in the ASEAN bloc and internationally.

On this occasion, on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Sam also sent his thanks to the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Germany, especially the help of the Vietnamese Association in Leipzig, for supporting and helping the delegation throughout the competition.

The World Skills Competition in Leipzig 2013 is one of the largest ever organized with the participation of about 1,000 contestants from 67 countries and territories, competing in 46 different professions, lasting for 1 week from July 2-7./.
