On June 5, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) successfully launched a rocket carrying a cosmic observation probe named CIBER with the aim of studying the formation of the first galaxy.

NASA said the Black Brant XII rocket launched at 03:05 GMT from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, US.

With CIBER, scientists will study when the first stars and galaxies formed in the universe and how bright they became as they burned their core fuel.

This is CIBER’s fourth flight on a NASA rocket. Previous flights were in 2009, 2010 and 2012 from the White Sands launch pad in New Mexico, USA. However, this time, CIBER is launched on a larger and more powerful rocket than previous ones, which will take the spacecraft to a higher altitude and thus allow for longer observation time.

The CIBER launch was originally scheduled for the evening of May 4, but was postponed due to lack of time to cool the device in the rocket head to the required temperature./.
