On the morning of June 12, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang presented the appointment decisions and assigned tasks to Vietnamese Ambassadors and Consuls General before they take up their posts abroad for the 2013-2016 term.

In a solemn atmosphere, President Truong Tan Sang presented decisions to 19 comrades holding the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam abroad and 2 comrades holding the position of Consul General. This is a new working trip of the ambassadors and Consul General to 60 countries spread across 5 continents, with many partners, from strategic, special, to traditional relations of Vietnam.

Speaking with the ambassadors and consuls general, President Truong Tan Sang highly appreciated the experience of the ambassadors and emphasized that the mission of the ambassadors is very heavy, doing well in foreign affairs is an important channel to serve domestic affairs. The world situation has difficulties but also advantages, in recent times, we have built a wide and relatively deep network of partnerships, including many strategic partners and comprehensive partners.

The President noted that Vietnam continues to expand relations with countries around the world. As the inheritors of these achievements, the ambassadors and consuls general must make every effort, especially the ambassadors who are concurrently serving many countries, to not only maintain but also strongly promote, deepen and enrich these relations, creating a close interweaving of interests between Vietnam and its partners, effectively serving the goals of national defense, security, development and enhancing the country's position. The President also requested that the ambassadors in particular and the Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies should seek the support of other countries to consolidate a peaceful environment for development, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.

And especially, representative agencies abroad need to unite, first of all, unite internally and spread the spirit of solidarity to the Vietnamese community in the host country. The more deeply the country integrates, the more Vietnamese citizens and businesses abroad need the support and coordination of representative agencies. Therefore, Ambassadors and Consuls must build representative agencies as a home, a spiritual, informational and legal support for people and businesses.

The President wished the Ambassadors to successfully fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and State to increasingly enhance Vietnam's role and position in the world arena./.
