At the emergency meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong requested the rescue force to try to save people at night. |
Comrade Dinh Viet Hong emphasized that the flood discharge of Vuc Mau Lake is mandatory and has been done according to the correct procedure. Currently, the water level of Vuc Mau Lake is still at the emergency alert level, it is still raining so the spillway cannot be closed yet, so the water will not be able to go down tomorrow. The most important issue in Hoang Mai now is to rescue people from dangerous areas, promptly provide instant noodles, dry food and medicine to flooded people. Tonight, the province will urgently support Hoang Mai with 100 tons of instant noodles and 100 barrels of filtered water. As soon as the goods are delivered, Hoang Mai needs to mobilize small boats and row to distribute them to people because after a day of flooding, the general situation of the people is hunger, thirst and cold.

Rescuers are trying to reach homes to save people. |
Colonel Ha Tan Tien, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, said that currently, there are canoes and speedboats at the scene, but these large boats are very difficult to approach people's houses. Besides, it is dark, the rescue forces are not familiar with the roads, so they are very passive in going to the hamlets, even posing many dangers, it is necessary to have a pilot force to guide the rescue boats to approach and rescue people.
While the people present at the meeting were discussing plans to evacuate people, the hotline of the Standing Office of the Provincial Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command rang continuously, people in Area B, the Hoang Mai Cement Factory collective called for help because of deep flooding, many women and children were trapped in the flooded area. The meeting quickly stopped, the rescue forces went to Hoang Mai bridge, using high-speed boats to rescue people at night...
