Strengthening coordination in promoting tourism development.

(Baonghean.vn) -On June 26th, the second (fourth round) Conference of Party Newspapers from provinces and cities in the Central and Central Highlands regions, themed "Linking Propaganda for Tourism Development," was held in Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province, hosted by Quang Nam Newspaper. Over 150 delegates, including leaders, editors, and reporters from 19 local Party newspapers in the region, attended the conference.

The introductory remarks of the workshop emphasized that, for many years, the press in general, and the Party newspapers of localities in the Central and Central Highlands regions in particular, have encouraged the transformation of the growth model and the shift in economic structure, prioritizing the development of services and tourism; paying attention to promoting tourism, introducing and advertising the image of localities, and introducing attractive tours/routes and tourist destinations. Local Party newspapers have also actively sought out and offered suggestions to the tourism industry on innovative and effective tourism practices, developing diverse types of tourism; at the same time, criticizing deviations in service organization and the negative aspects of tourism reflected in negative phenomena that negatively affect the investment promotion environment…

Overview of the conference

However, local Party newspapers still lack coordination and cooperation in organizing information about tourism. Specialized sections and columns that connect tourism across regions remain limited. Given the current state of journalistic activity in the tourism sector, the workshop "Coordination in Tourism Development Propaganda" provides an opportunity for local Party newspapers to discuss, exchange experiences, and find the most effective solutions to serve the propaganda work, making tourism products more widely known and amplifying the power of media communication to readers in general and tourists in particular.

At the workshop, representatives from local Party newspapers presented their opinions and shared experiences and best practices in the process of disseminating information within their units and localities. Delegates spent considerable time analyzing and evaluating the positive aspects as well as the limitations and difficulties in promoting tourism development. Many opinions suggested that, based on their functions and responsibilities, Party newspapers in the region should strengthen coordinated propaganda efforts for the common goal of building a regional tourism brand.

The workshop also emphasized that promoting and publicizing the image of tourism is essential for a region that has been and continues to be an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists; particularly for resort tourism, beach and island sightseeing, and cultural tourism associated with the rich heritage, culture, and unique historical relics of local communities, such as the Central and Central Highlands regions. Therefore, Party newspapers in the region need to strengthen collaborative propaganda efforts to bring about effective tourism development for the entire region and each locality.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Organizing Committee handed over the hosting flag for the third (round IV) workshop of Party newspapers from provinces and cities in the Central and Central Highlands regions to Kon Tum Newspaper, which is expected to be held at the end of 2013. On this occasion, 19 Party newspapers from the Central and Central Highlands regions signed a commitment to cooperate in promoting tourism development.

As part of the workshop program, delegates visited Hoi An Silk Village, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son World Heritage Site, and the Chu Lai - Truong Hai Automotive Mechanical Complex; attended the closing ceremony of the Festival and the final round of the 3rd Miss Ethnic Groups of Vietnam contest - one of the three main activities of the 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival, 2013.
