On the evening of July 8th, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang cordially received Mr. Isa Bixennov, a veteran and former military expert from Kazakhstan who had assisted Vietnam during the years of the national liberation war. He and his family are currently on a visit back to Vietnam.

During the meeting, President Truong Tan Sang expressed his pleasure at meeting again with the Kazakhstani international soldier who had previously trained many Vietnamese air defense soldiers. His assistance, and that of international friends in general, made a significant contribution to Vietnam's struggle for independence and national reunification.

The President affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State will never forget that valuable assistance and are ready to welcome veterans and former experts back to Vietnam as if they were returning to their beloved home.

Mr. Isa Bixennov expressed his joy at returning to Vietnam, a country he had been closely associated with during his youth. Recalling his years as a missile expert in North Vietnam in 1966-1967, he recounted that during those years, the war in the North was fierce, with devastating bombing raids. He was wounded along with many other Vietnamese people, including children, but the heroic fighting spirit of the Vietnamese army and people for independence will never fade from his memory.

After nearly 50 years, Isa Bisennov returned to Vietnam, bringing with him the affection and mementos he had preserved over the years, and affirming that Vietnam will forever be his second home.
