Thus, from June 8 to 12, there were four confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu among five people quarantined for monitoring. These cases are all employees of the Department of Justice of Tien Giang province.

On June 8, the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine received information that there was one confirmed case of A/H1N1 influenza being treated at the French-Vietnamese Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and two suspected cases of infection working at the same agency. The Center sent medical staff to the area to carry out epidemic control and prevention measures at the agency where the infection was suspected.

On June 10, the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine continued to guide two employees of the Department of Justice who showed signs of infection to Tien Giang General Hospital for health check-ups. After the hospital sent samples for testing, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City has now sent results confirming that four cases were confirmed to be infected with A/H1N1 flu.

“Up to this point, the whole province has had four cases of A/H1N1 flu infection, but all are in stable health. All confirmed cases were isolated from the beginning for monitoring and treatment at the hospital, so up to now, no new suspected cases have been recorded. The center is continuing to monitor the health status of the agencies where the disease is present and at the same time implementing propaganda measures, instructing people to implement epidemic prevention measures to avoid the disease spreading to the community,” said Ms. Mai.

Mr. Pham Van Chinh, deputy director of the Tien Giang Department of Justice, said that the department proactively asked employees to have health checks as soon as the first case of A/H1N1 flu was detected.

“Currently, the agency is still operating normally. Medical units have ensured that the disease is treated at the agency so that people can feel secure when coming here to contact us. We also require staff to wear medical masks so that people can feel secure when talking to the officials,” Mr. Chinh said.
