Nissan Sunny suddenly reduced price
Launched on the same day as Honda City on June 11, 2013 in the Vietnamese market, Sunny has not created a fever and has to wait several months like City.
According to a survey by VnMedia reporters at some Nissan dealers in Hanoi such as Nissan Ha Dong, Nissan Thang Long, Nissan Hanoi, the price of Sunny is being supported by Nissan Vietnam with 5 million VND, the rest of the dealers support from 5-20 million VND depending on the version. For example, the automatic Sunny is currently being sold for 568 million VND, a decrease of 20 million VND compared to the suggested price of 588 million VND by Nissan Vietnam.
The manual Sunny version in particular has a bigger discount: a direct cash discount of 25 million VND and an additional accessory gift of about 3 million VND, equivalent to a total discount of 28 million VND compared to the suggested price of 538 million VND, meaning that customers can only spend about 510 million VND to buy the car.

Sunny has difficulty penetrating the Vietnamese market. |
At Nissan Tan Son Nhat dealer (Ho Chi Minh City), the discount applied to both manual and automatic Sunny is 10 million VND (dealer supports 5 million VND, Nissan Vietnam supports 5 million VND), at the same time, customers who buy a car will receive additional accessories worth about 5 million VND, the total discount is equivalent to 15 million VND.
So, from the Sunny automatic version being priced higher than the City (8 million VND), this version is currently priced 10 million VND lower than the City; while the manual version was priced 2 million VND lower, the actual selling price is currently 30 million VND lower.
In addition to the advantage of more space than its competitors, the Nissan Sunny has a controversial design. The car uses a 1.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine, 99 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 134 Nm at 4,000 rpm, with front-wheel drive, 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.
Sunny assembled in Vietnam has 3 versions including standard Sunny, Sunny XL and Sunny XV with suggested prices of 518, 538 and 588 million VND respectively, in which the standard version targets taxi companies.
At the time of its launch in June 2013, Nissan Vietnam had high expectations for this new small car model with a sales target of 6,000 units/year, reaching 2,000 units in the second half of 2013. However, the Japanese car brand will have to make a lot of effort to achieve its immediate goal.
