Reigning Champions League champions Bayern Munich and reigning Europa League champions Chelsea are seeded in Group 1. Other big names include Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
Despite having to go through a rather difficult qualifying round, Arsenal's efforts have been rewarded with a place in this group, marking the 16th consecutive season the Gunners have reached the group stage. Notably, two Portuguese teams, Porto and Benfica, are also included in the top seed group.
In the second seeded group, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, PSG, and Juventus are notable names to watch.
Meanwhile, in Group 3, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are the standout names. Napoli, who have consistently caused a stir in the summer transfer window, are in Group 4.
With these results, fans have every right to imagine the emergence of "groups of death" like Barca, PSG, Man City, and Napoli; or Bayern, Juventus, Dortmund, Napoli…
The draw for the group stage of the 2013-14 Champions League will take place at 11:45 PM tonight (August 29th) in Monaco, France. During the draw, UEFA will also announce the "European Player of the Year" award. Currently, the three leading contenders are Lionel Messi, Franck Ribéry, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
