Ministry of Industry and Trade inspects progress of Quynh Lap 1 Thermal Power Project
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of November 7, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang had a working session to inspect the progress of the Quynh Lap 1 Thermal Power Plant Project. Attending the meeting was Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Quynh Lap Thermal Power Plant Project (Quynh Lap Commune, Hoang Mai Town) has a capacity of 1,200 MW. The Government has agreed in principle to assign the Coal - Mineral Group as the investor with a total capital of 1.6 billion USD. In order for the project to be implemented quickly, Nghe An province has completed the traffic road to the Power Center area about 12km from National Highway 1A; has provided capital for the construction of the 35KV power line in Dong Hoi Industrial Park.

The Provincial People's Committee has agreed in principle to allow VIP Company to build a water plant with a capacity of 50,000m3/day and night for Hoang Mai Industrial Park and Dong Hoi Industrial Park. In addition, the province has allocated 220ha of land for the Thermal Power Plant in Dong Hoi Industrial Park; planned to build a coal port for the Thermal Power Company at Dong Hoi port. The Coal-Mineral Group has signed a framework agreement with the joint venture Doosan (Korea) - Lilama Narime (Vietnam) to implement the FPC package.
At the meeting, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien said: The project has been implemented for 5 years but so far the progress is very slow, greatly affecting the investment attraction and people's lives. The province proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to supplement the 7th power diagram, urging the Coal - Mineral Group to soon start the Quynh Lap 1 Thermal Power Plant project in 2014. If the investor is not capable, the Ministry should replace another investor so that the project can be implemented soon.

Concluding the meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang affirmed: Quynh Lap Thermal Power Plant Project is a major project, after implementation, it will not only be a breakthrough for Nghe An industry but also contribute to promoting local socio-economic development. The Ministry of Industry and Trade acknowledges the efforts and attention of the provincial leaders in the implementation of Quynh Lap 1 Thermal Power Plant.
This is an important project, the Government has chosen to pilot the construction of a thermal power plant using domestic equipment, so there will be many difficulties during the implementation process. The Ministry requested the investor, the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group, to prepare a detailed report on the project's feasibility and send it to the Ministry to report to the Prime Minister, in order to remove difficulties and speed up the project's progress in the coming time.
