Sichuan earthquake again, 24 people injured

On April 25, two consecutive earthquakes occurred in Sichuan province, China, injuring 24 people and damaging thousands of houses.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the earthquake occurred in Yibin City, located about 500km from Lushan County, Ya'an City. Lushan is where a 7.0-magnitude earthquake occurred on April 20, killing 196 people, leaving 21 missing and injuring more than 12,200.

The first earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale and was 4km deep. The second earthquake hit just two minutes later, measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale. Local authorities said they were still collecting information about casualties from the earthquake.

According to Sichuan authorities, since the April 20 earthquake, the province has suffered more than 4,000 aftershocks, including four with magnitudes of 5-5.9 on the Richter scale, 21 with magnitudes of 4-4.9 on the Richter scale, and 78 with magnitudes above 3-3.9 on the Richter scale.

Currently, earthquake recovery work is still taking place urgently.
