Seminar to celebrate Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1)

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of July 1, the Department of Health and Social Insurance of Nghe An province organized a seminar to celebrate Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1, 2009 - July 1, 2013); Implementing Decision No. 538 dated March 29, 2013 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on implementing the roadmap towards universal health insurance for the period 2012-2015 and 2020.

The Law on Health Insurance came into effect on July 11, 2004. After 4 years of implementation, the rate of population participating in health insurance increased from over 40% to nearly 67%. In Nghe An, there are currently 2,030,490 people who have been issued health insurance cards. At the same time, the quality of medical examination and treatment for patients with health insurance cards has been improving day by day. The whole province has 61 medical examination and treatment facilities that have signed contracts with the social insurance agency, 464/473 commune health stations provide initial health insurance examination and treatment. In 2012, the total amount of medical examination and treatment fees for 3,501,595 people was 954.408 billion VND.

Celebrating Health Insurance Day is an opportunity for the community to arouse and multiply the spirit of mutual love, helping to share the financial burden with those who are unfortunately sick, helping them overcome difficulties and contributing to strengthening and maintaining social security. At the same time, it is an opportunity for the entire political system, especially the health sector and the social insurance sector to coordinate to promote propaganda and mobilize people to implement the Health Insurance Law well, moving towards universal health insurance with the goal of "For the health of oneself, family and community, for national security".
