Boat capsizes in Do Luong, 2 dead.

(Baonghean.vn) - While returning from cutting grass, a boat carrying four people across the Lam River sank in Thuan Son commune, Do Luong district, resulting in two fatalities.

At noon on August 19, 2013, while returning home after cutting grass, four residents of Hamlet 1, Thuan Ly Village, Thuan Son Commune, Do Luong District, were crossing the Lam River by boat. Midway across the river, the boat capsized, sweeping away Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoan (born in 1969) and Ms. Tran Thi Mui (born in 1967), both residents of Hamlet 1, Thuan Ly Village. The other two people on the boat were rescued.

Reportedly, the boat was loaded with grass at the time. When the boat started rocking, two women who knew how to swim jumped into the water to lighten the load, but due to the strong current, they drowned. The other two people on the boat were rescued by a nearby fisherman.

Immediately after the boat capsized, the authorities of Thuan Son commune, officers and soldiers of the Military Command and the Police of Do Luong district organized a search force, but due to high water levels and strong currents, the search was difficult. As of 8:00 AM on August 20th, the search was still ongoing but the bodies of the victims had not yet been found.
