Nghe An Police: Ready for the September 2nd amnesty day.
(Baonghean.vn) -These days, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center is busy preparing for the upcoming National Day on September 2nd, when the President's decision on amnesty will be announced, to select inmates who meet the criteria to be included in the list of those recommended for amnesty.
This year, on the occasion of National Day on September 2nd, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center decided to grant amnesty to 35 inmates. At this point, all preparations for the amnesty have been basically completed.
To ensure that this amnesty process is conducted seriously, fairly, and in accordance with the law, the Nghe An Provincial Police Department established a steering subcommittee and publicly announced the eligibility criteria, procedures, and process for amnesty consideration. The Supervisory Board of the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center organized a review and voting process for the inmates. Many of these cases had legal procedural issues, such as incomplete civil compensation payments, court fees, or procedural errors. To ensure the rights of the inmates, the unit's amnesty council sent officers to their localities to coordinate with their families and resolve the problems. In some cases, inmates were so poor they lacked the money to pay their civil and court obligations that correctional officers had to lend them money so they could receive the amnesty benefits.

Organize reintegration classes for inmates.
Alongside the work of educating inmates on life skills, the Provincial Police leadership has also directed the police in districts and cities to proactively plan the reception, management, education, and assistance of those granted amnesty to help them stabilize their lives and reintegrate into the community. According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thang Long, Superintendent of the Provincial Police Detention Center, after the inmates receive their amnesty decisions, the Detention Center will coordinate with relevant units to review the list of inmates in Nghe An to issue them identity cards. The unit has also prepared personal belongings for the inmates after their release, including clothes, shoes, and funds for fuel and food so they can return home and start a new life.
The inmates we met at the Provincial Police Detention Center all had different feelings, thoughts, and concerns. However, they all shared a common desire to reform themselves so that they could soon benefit from the leniency policies of the Party and the State, return to integrate into the community and society, and partially compensate for the losses suffered by their families and loved ones through their own rehabilitation. Inmate Nguyen Ba Lung, convicted of fraud and embezzlement, is one of 35 cases eligible for amnesty consideration at the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center this time. Like everyone else in the center, inmate Lung has strived to improve himself so that he can soon reintegrate into the community and become a useful member of society.
Nguyen Ba Lung confided: "My yearning to return to the community, society, and family, as well as my desire to atone for the mistakes I have made, is the driving force behind my efforts to reform myself. Being included in the list for consideration for amnesty this time makes me extremely happy, because of the recognition from the prison management board regarding my efforts to reform myself, as well as those of other inmates being considered for amnesty this time."
This year's amnesty granted on the occasion of National Day on September 2nd clearly demonstrates the lenient policy of the Party and State towards prisoners who have reformed well and are allowed to return to their families and society. It also serves as an incentive for other prisoners currently undergoing labor in prison to strive to receive the same leniency and compassion from the law.
Following the official decision from the Central Clemency Council, in order to provide inmates with more knowledge and skills for reintegration into the community, the Supervisory Board of the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center opened a class on reintegration skills for inmates granted clemency this time. This class helps inmates gain basic knowledge and updated information on laws, the current situation and work in combating drug trafficking, and skills for reintegration into the community. |
