(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of August 9th, under the chairmanship of Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Nghe An Sea and Island Development Project, the Provincial Steering Committee held a meeting with its members to hear and give opinions on: the draft plan for implementing the Project on the Development of Healthcare in Vietnam's Sea and Islands; and the draft regulations on the operation of the Nghe An Provincial Steering Committee for Vietnam's Sea and Islands until 2020.

The draft plan for implementing the Project on the Development of Healthcare in Vietnam's Coastal and Island Areas by 2020 aims to: ensure that people living and working in coastal and island areas have access to and can utilize healthcare services for prevention, emergency care, examination and treatment, and health improvement, contributing to the successful achievement of the goals of Vietnam's Maritime Strategy by 2020.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the meeting.

Leaders of the Department of Health participated in contributing opinions to the draft regulations on the operation of the Steering Committee for the Sea and Islands of Nghe An province.

The action plan for implementing the project "Developing Healthcare in Vietnam's Coastal and Island Areas by 2020" focuses on strengthening a capable healthcare network, developing sufficient human resources, and enhancing capacity in emergency response, transportation, medical examination and treatment, and disease prevention, in accordance with the specific characteristics of protecting and caring for the health of people in coastal and island areas. Regarding the provincial project on developing healthcare in Vietnam's coastal and island areas by 2020, steering committees have been established at all levels, comprising relevant provincial departments, agencies, and units, as well as district and city-level steering committees (headed by leaders of the district and city People's Committees). Funding will come from two sources: central government support and local budget allocations. The project will be implemented in six districts and cities: Vinh City, Cua Lo, Hoang Mai, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, and Quynh Luu.

After listening to the comments from the members of the Steering Committee, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, concluded: The draft Regulations on the operation of the Steering Committee for Vietnam's Sea and Islands in Nghe An province until 2020 need to be reviewed and finalized to ensure a more rigorous and complete document process, and to add more members to the Steering Committee and establish a support team… Accordingly, the members of the Steering Committee implementing the “Project for the Development of Healthcare in Vietnam's Sea and Islands until 2020” are tasked with advising the Provincial People's Committee on directing and organizing the implementation of policies and solutions regarding healthcare in sea and islands; mobilizing forces and resources to serve healthcare in the area in emergency situations. The Steering Committee also performs the function of managing and supervising the “Project for the Development of Healthcare in Vietnam's Sea and Islands until 2020” to achieve the highest efficiency.
