Focus on solving the problem of illegal immigration

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 9, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference with 22 provinces nationwide on a number of policies and solutions to continue to address the situation of spontaneous migration.

According to the report of the People's Committees of key provinces with spontaneous migration to the Central Highlands, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc, in the period from 2005-2012, the number of spontaneous migrants was over 37,430 households, 147,727 people, equal to 20.4% of the number of households arranged according to the plan. In addition, thousands of households spontaneously migrated to provinces with special-use and protective forests such as: Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Son La, Lai Chau... From 2006-2012, the central budget supported 6,192 billion VND, local budget and other funding sources more than 2 trillion VND to implement population arrangement projects...

In Nghe An province, from 2001 to 2010, the number of spontaneous migrants decreased from 530 households to 320 households. However, complicated developments occurred in districts with borders, protective forests, special-use forests, and ethnic minority areas. The consequences of spontaneous migration are deforestation, encroachment, and land reclamation. In order to arrange residents according to Decision 1776/QD-TTg of the Government, our province has approved 25 projects for resettlement and stabilization of residents. The total capital invested in the projects is 246.6 billion VND; the total number of households stabilized is 714; upgrading, repairing, and renovating more than 21 km of roads, 9 bridge and culvert locations, along with infrastructure works such as dams, canals, clean water, cultural houses, etc.

The goal from now to 2020 is that Nghe An province will focus on resolving, arranging and arranging accommodation according to the planning and plan for over 9,700 households, with 46,620 spontaneous migrants. The subjects are arranged in order of priority: households in areas threatened by natural disasters, areas of special difficulty, land border areas, spontaneous migrants living not according to the planning, difficult lives, households that need to move out of special-use forests and protective forests. On that basis, the province will focus on promoting the implementation of solutions on land fund creation, policy mechanisms, infrastructure construction, production arrangement for concentrated resettlement areas, response to natural disasters...
