Sadness is temporary

(Baonghean) - Not far from National Highway 48C, but the road to Dua village (Tho Hop commune, Quy Hop) is extremely difficult because of the streams and streams. For example, this year, the village has built bridges nearly ten times; the refrain of building bridges - floods - building bridges again... keeps testing the patience of the villagers...

Crossing the bamboo bridge, which was precarious and swaying like a hammock, I returned to visit the village. Honestly, the feeling of being in a circus when crossing the bridge still haunts me as I type these lines. Yet, day after day, the people of Dua village still go back and forth on that bridge. According to the explanation of old man Truong Song Huong, it is not that the villagers disregard safety, but because... there is no other way. Old man Huong said that this season, the water recedes, the Dinh River is dry, but in the rainy season, the water from upstream Pu Huong flows down, the water becomes fierce, sweeping everything away.

Dinh River is the confluence of Nam Choong, Nam Ton, Nam Cu... so the riverbed is always wide and immense. There is no funding to build a solid bridge, so for many years, people have been persistent in making temporary bridges. Without a temporary bridge, when wanting to go to the commune, district, or go to the market to buy things, the only way is to wade in the water and swim. More urgent is the education of the children, because if they want to go to school, they have to cross the Dinh River, there is no other way. The river is wide so the bamboo bridge is always long. On the North bank, the bamboo poles used to support the bridge are still low, but on the South bank, they are very high. Therefore, when people cross, the bridge always shakes and sways as if it is about to fall into the river!

According to Party cell secretary Truong Van Thanh, each of these bamboo bridges costs about 15 million VND in materials alone. This year, the village has built nearly ten bridges, and although some materials have been reused, the total cost is still more than a hundred million VND. This amount is mainly contributed by 56 households in the village, the villagers are getting poorer because of the bridge construction...

The separation from streams has led to many consequences, besides having to work hard to build temporary bridges and becoming poor because of contributions to build bridges, there is also the education of children. From ancient times until now, no child of the village has ever entered university. In the story, the young and old in Dua village all earnestly hope that there will be investment projects so that the road to the village has a sturdy bridge, helping the people soon ease these haunting feelings?!
