When the infant kidnapping case was exposed, VietNamNet reporters contacted relatives of the suspect Le Thi Bich Tram (born in 1989, residing in District 7, temporarily residing in Binh Chanh District). From there, heartbreaking truths were revealed....

The tragedy of the "mine mother" through the story of her biological father

On the day his daughter Le Thi Bich Tram was arrested, Mr. LVM (born in 1969, residing in District 7) appeared in front of the District 7 police station with a bewildered expression. Meeting him, through his story, we learned a little about the tragedy that Tram herself had caused.

"Tram is my wife and I's only child. I only have this child in my life, and that's all I have lost. My child is so foolish! I hope the law will be lenient with her so she can have a chance to start over," Mr. M lamented in tears.

Suspect Le Thi Bich Tram cried and struggled when she surrendered to the police.

20 years ago, while on the way to sell goods, his wife was unfortunately robbed, fell on the road and suffered a serious brain injury. Now, his business is stagnant. He works as a bus driver, driving two trips a day at the 26th Transport Cooperative.

It was he who asked for Tram to work as a bus operator at the same workplace.

“He was arrested until now, I hid it from my wife. She was sick and if she got agitated, she probably wouldn’t survive” - Mr. M shared.

Then Mr. M said that he was the one who took care of his children's happiness. When Tram married LVL (born in 1987), he also lent her money for her son-in-law's business, bought her property... Even according to Mr. M, although Tram had her own family, he and his wife still provided no less than 10 million VND every month.

Mr. M choked up: “I knew she was pregnant, I was so happy, my wife and I had a grandchild to hold… When she gave birth and brought the baby home, I was so happy that I immediately ran up and gave her 1 million VND.

Two days later, I gave him another 2 million VND to take my grandchild for vaccination. He also asked for another 5 million VND. My husband and I hadn’t given him yet, and this happened.”

The grieving father asserted that on the morning of January 13, he read the news about the kidnapping in the newspaper. Looking at the sketch in the newspaper, he was startled, because it looked so much like his daughter... He immediately picked up the phone and called his daughter to clear up his doubts, hoping that his daughter was not the one who committed the crime, but the phone was off, he could not contact her.

“When I heard my daughter broke the law and was arrested, my legs went weak. I had to stop driving the bus…” - Mr. M painfully explained.

Continuing to explain, Mr. M said: "I don't know the reason why my child had a miscarriage. Whether or not my husband liked to come home drunk and abuse his wife, if he did, he hid it from my wife and I... I think my child was foolish and acted out of family pressure."

Husband's family opens up

It is known that right after Tram was arrested, Tram’s husband, LVL, and father-in-law, LCV (born in 1962) were both invited to District 7 police station to assist in the investigation. At that time, L confided: “I had absolutely no idea what my wife had done. I thought the child was mine…”.

When asked again, L. explained: "Now that the story has happened, after this incident, I love my wife even more. It was because of me that my wife thought and acted so foolishly!"

Even though she had a miscarriage, Tram still pretended to be pregnant and bought clothes and baby items.

When asked about forgiving Tram for what she had done, L and both parents confirmed that when Tram repented and served her legal punishment, she would be accepted as a normal wife and daughter-in-law.

According to Tram's mother-in-law - Mrs. NTTN (born in 1969) and her brother-in-law, LKT (born in 1989), at noon on January 8, Tram called home to say she was waiting to give birth at Tu Du Hospital.

Immediately after that, Mrs. N called her son and an aunt to run to the hospital to find Tram, even asked the doctors to check the list of pregnant women but got no results, so she had to leave.

Suddenly on the evening of January 9, Tram called to say that she had given birth and was taking a taxi home with her baby. She brought her baby into the house and her husband's family was happy, but her mother-in-law and L blamed Tram for not informing them when she gave birth and turning off her cell phone. Tram "claimed" that her cell phone had run out of battery and her biological mother was taking care of her.

However, the next day, her biological parents heard that Tram gave birth and came to visit their grandchild.

Here Tram's biological mother also blamed her, asking why she didn't tell her when she gave birth? Tram pretended to change the subject to let it go, but her husband's family was very suspicious of Tram's unusual attitude.

Mrs. N and her daughter used many…tests, determined that Tram did not resemble the symptoms of a woman who had just given birth, and suspicions grew. Initially, Mrs. N and her daughter read online newspapers and saw that the mother who lost her child had similar characteristics to Tram, so they asked Tram to come and question her, but Tram refused.

On the morning of January 12, when the press published a sketch of the perpetrator, Mrs. N and her daughter confirmed that it was Tram. This time, due to Mrs. N and her daughter's intense questioning, Tram cried and confessed.

The mother was both happy and sad when she got her child back after 4 days apart.

From the afternoon of January 12 to the morning of January 13, Mrs. N and her daughter advised their daughter-in-law a lot about surrendering. But Tram cried in her room the whole time. Also on the night of January 12, when the police force found traces, Mrs. N and her daughter cooperated more actively; later, these two people persuaded and helped Tram surrender and return the baby to the police force.

When arrested at the police station, Tram sobbed and declared: "I already regret it. I was afraid my husband would leave me, so I thought of doing something stupid and reckless. Actually, I loved the baby like my own child."

According to Tram's statement, more than a year ago, Tram and Mr. LVL (born in 1987, residing in Binh Hung Commune, Binh Chanh District) held a wedding, but did not register their marriage. After that, Tram became a daughter-in-law at her husband's family in Hamlet 1, Binh Hung Commune.

During their marriage, Tram became pregnant; her husband took her to the hospital many times for check-ups and ultrasounds, predicting she would give birth to a baby girl.

By the third month, the fetus had miscarried. Tram was panicking, not because she was afraid of the miscarriage, but because her husband would leave her because of not having children, along with recent disagreements in their marriage. During this time, Tram thought of ways to "padded" her belly and ate a lot to cover up the miscarriage; everyone thought Tram was about to give birth...

In Tram's opinion, having a child is the only way to save her married life. So, while she was in a dilemma, Tram immediately came up with the idea of kidnapping a child to deceive her husband and family.
