These houses, built with sturdy construction and built with funding from the Nghe An Border Guard, the Truong Son Solidarity Program, the Saigon Liberation Newspaper, and Vietinbank, have been officially handed over to the people so they can have new homes before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse.
Each house received a subsidy of 45 million VND, along with the joint efforts of local Party committees and authorities, relatives, and the labor of officers and soldiers from border guard posts. Each house handed over to the families was valued at 80 million VND or more.
During the handover ceremony for the charitable house, we visited the family of Mr. Lu Bun Soi in Buoc village, Bac Ly commune. Mr. Soi is one of two households receiving a charitable house in Buoc village. In his spacious house, still smelling of fresh wood, he couldn't hide his emotion: “My wife and I don't have a profession; our lives mainly depend on slash-and-burn farming, and we don't have capital to develop production. For many years, we had to live in a dilapidated thatched house. Seeing our difficult circumstances, the Border Guard, in coordination with the sponsor and the local government, held a meeting and built a charitable house for us. This Tet, celebrating in our new house, my whole family is overjoyed…”
Sharing the joy with his fellow villagers, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ly commune, Mr. Cut Pho Duong, shared: "Now that it's the cold season, 15 families in the commune have received new houses to live in before Tet, and everyone is happy and excited. Besides donating houses, the Border Guard and sponsors also donated household items such as tables, chairs, pots, pans, bowls, plates, etc., to the families who received new houses. The Year of the Horse Tet will be a memorable Tet for the poor families in Bac Ly commune."
