(Baonghean.vn) -In the 1970s and 1980s, every spring, the Song Dinh literary group, whose core members included writers like Nguyen Xuan Phau, Phan Van Tu, Huy Huyen, Ngo Duc Tien, etc., would often organize gatherings for those working in literature and journalism.

Back then, few writers in Yen Thanh had the money to publish books, so most of their poetry, music, plays, and artistic photographs were submitted to central and local newspapers and radio stations, thus the literary community was closely connected to the press. Meetings were usually held at the Cong Hien photo studio, located in the town center. At the New Year's feast, all the writers, artists, and journalists from within and outside the district were present. Some years, they even welcomed Tran Huu Thung, Le Thai Son, and several artists from Dien Chau and Vinh to the gathering. Some years, benefactors organized the event, but many years the members themselves contributed gifts to make the New Year's feast possible.

Responding to the needs and aspirations of those working in the arts and journalism fields of the district, in early spring of 1994, at the suggestion of the District Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Party Committee and the government of Yen Thanh district organized a meeting of journalists and arts professionals on the morning of the 14th day of the first lunar month.

Since then, every year on the morning of January 14th, Yen Thanh district organizes a meeting for journalists and artists. Firstly, after a year of hard work in the field of writing, journalists and artists have the opportunity to meet, share experiences, and encourage each other in literary and artistic creation and propaganda. Secondly, it's an occasion for district leaders to report on the socio-economic situation of the district over the past year and outline tasks for the new year. It's also a chance to reflect on a year of hard work in journalism, propaganda, and arts by the district's writers, and to commend their achievements and positive contributions to the cultural and artistic landscape of Yen Thanh.

In the warm atmosphere of early spring, poets and musicians presented their new works. Representatives from provincial and central newspapers and magazines exchanged thoughts and feelings with their collaborators, sharing drinks, betel nuts, and spring flowers to further warm the relationship between local leaders and the arts and journalism community.

Thanks to the force of more than 20 members of the Yen Thanh Arts and Culture Association, including 18 members of the Nghe An Folk Arts and Culture Association, plus collaborators, friends, and media representatives at the provincial and central levels, the Party Committee and government of Yen Thanh have created connections and consensus among intellectuals and artists working in the fields of arts, culture, and journalism.

Over the past 20 years, through more than 7 Party Congress terms, many leading officials of the district have retired or transferred to other positions, but the younger generation of leaders has continued the work of the older generation. While the people may change, the policies and directions for the work remain unchanged. Therefore, organizing a press and arts gathering at the beginning of the year has been maintained as a beautiful tradition of local culture.

The literary and journalistic staff of Yen Thanh no longer have the opportunity to meet veteran members like Nguyen Xuan Phau, Le Quoc An, Nguyen Thanh Kham, Nguyen Ba Can... but there are still writers who have shaped the face of this culturally rich region, such as Huy Huyen, Phan Van Tu, Ngo Duc Tien, Phan The Phiệt, Phan Ba Ham, Hoang Van Han, Nguyen Viet Hoa, Phan Dang Hai, Ho Cac... and many promising young writers like Tien Dung, Tran Ngoc Khanh, Hoang Thu Ha, Phan Hien... who are developing new works.

The children of Yen Thanh who work in the arts and journalism at central and provincial media agencies also gathered in large numbers on this occasion, contributing new voices and tones to beautify their homeland.

Among the many activities and festivals held at the beginning of the year, organizing press conferences and cultural events in Yen Thanh at the start of spring is a beautiful cultural tradition and a noteworthy manifestation of leadership culture.
