Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Dinh Tien said that Vietnam attaches great importance to building infrastructure for nuclear power, especially developing human resources for nuclear power.

Immediately after the National Assembly passed the Resolution on investment policy for the two nuclear power projects Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2, the Prime Minister signed a decision approving the Project "Training and developing human resources for the atomic energy sector until 2020" and established a Steering Committee on training and development of nuclear power to implement the Project.

The National Steering Committee on training and developing human resources for atomic energy has assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a master plan for human resource development in general; the Vietnam Electricity Group to develop a plan for training human resources for nuclear power projects; and the Ministry of Science and Technology to develop a training plan for experts in management agencies, regulatory agencies, technical support agencies as well as research and development agencies.

“However, we also realize that training human resources for nuclear power development in particular and atomic energy development in general in Vietnam today requires a comprehensive plan,” Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien emphasized.

Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien hopes that IAEA experts and international experts will share their experiences in developing human resources for nuclear power, in order to help Vietnam have the best plan to develop human resources for the nuclear energy sector in general and to serve Vietnam's first nuclear power project in particular.

During the three-day workshop (from August 27-29), international and Vietnamese experts focused on exchanging and discussing training and human resource development for nuclear power plants and the nuclear energy sector; training managers, policy makers and law makers in the nuclear energy sector.../.
