(Baonghean) -2013 has not ended yet, but the athletes of Traditional Martial Arts - Kick Boxing have brought home 14 gold medals, 16 silver medals, 17 bronze medals for Nghe An sports. According to coach Bui Duy Vinh, this is a very successful year when Traditional Martial Arts - Boxing - Kick Boxing has promoted its spearhead role, contributing to the overall achievements of high-performance sports in Nghe An.

A year of brilliant medals

It can be seen that under the guidance of martial artist Bui Duy Vinh and national coach and referee Nguyen Cong Manh, the Traditional Martial Arts - Boxing - Kick Boxing has built a deep athlete force including many high-class athletes who have affirmed their names and young athletes as a very good source of successors. Therefore, from the national championships (the highest tournament in the competition system of the Sports and Physical Training Committee) to the youth tournaments, athletes of Traditional Martial Arts, Kick Boxing and Boxing of Nghe An have all won medals.

The most impressive mark was at the 2013 National Traditional Martial Arts Championship which recently took place from August 22 to August 26 in Vinh City, competing at home under the cheers of a large audience, Nghe An athletes excellently won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, winning the overall first place in the combat competition. This is a new turning point for Nghe An sports, because for a long time the number 1 position of Traditional Martial Arts has always belonged to localities with traditions such as Binh Dinh and Ho Chi Minh City... Previously, Nghe An athletes also achieved good results in other tournaments such as: National Traditional Martial Arts Club Cup: 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 4 bronze medals; National Traditional Martial Arts Championship for Radio and Youth: 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 4 bronze medals; 2013 Traditional Martial Arts Championship of the Central and Central Highlands: 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 2 bronze medals. In the new sport of Kick Boxing, over the past two years Nghe An has affirmed its number 1 position, in 2013 it continued to achieve high results when bringing home 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals from the National Kick Boxing Club Cup, 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals at the Youth Championship. Martial artist Bui Duy Vinh said that in 2013 Kick Boxing still has 1 national championship tournament which will take place from September 16 to 23, Nghe An sports delegation strives to defend its number 1 position with the goal of winning at least 3 gold medals.

In addition to the two sports that have affirmed their strengths mentioned above, in the very popular international sport of Boxing, Nghe An athletes have also achieved some encouraging results: winning 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals at the National Championship; 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals at the National Club Boxing Cup. There are 2 young athletes from Nghe An, Nguyen Cong Minh (born in 1998) and Nguyen Trung Nhat (born in 1997) who were called to the national youth team for advanced training to prepare for international Boxing tournaments. Especially in the Traditional Martial Arts and Boxing Tournament - Let's Viet 2013 - a tournament following the model of a professional sports tournament held for the first time in Vietnam, 3 Nghe An athletes were selected to participate and currently all 3 have won very impressive matches and have the opportunity to compete in the semi-finals.

Notable faces

First of all, we have to mention female martial artist Ngu Thi Thuyet. Although she is in her final year at Tu Son University of Sports and has to focus on her graduation thesis, this girl born in 1990 in Hung Linh commune (Hung Nguyen district) still took the time to participate in competitions and brought home 2 gold medals for Nghe An sports (1 gold medal at the National Traditional Martial Arts Championship, 1 gold medal at the National Kick Boxing Clubs Cup). Not only that, Thuyet has also just successfully defended her university graduation thesis with honors. Thuyet said that her remaining goal in 2013 is to conquer the upcoming National Kick Boxing Championship gold medal.

The veteran faces who have brought home many gold medals for Nghe An sports over the years continue to maintain their form such as: Nguyen Van Duc (Gold medal of Kick Boxing Club Cup, Silver medal of National Championship), Tran Le Hoang (Gold medal of Kick Boxing Cup, Silver medal of National Championship), Dao Xuan Tu (Gold medal of Traditional Martial Arts Championship), Ngo Quyet Thang (Gold medal of Traditional Martial Arts Championship)... 3 other excellent faces, Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Van Quyet, Vo Xuan Thanh, this year focused on competing in Let's Viet, so they left the playing field in other tournaments to young athletes.

Currently, in this highly anticipated tournament (Let's Viet 2013), Nguyen Van Quyet has officially won the right to enter the semi-finals of Traditional Martial Arts after 3 absolute wins; Vo Xuan Thanh has also followed his teammate into the semi-finals of Boxing after 2 wins and 1 loss; Nguyen Van An has competed in 2 matches and won 1 match, lost 1 match, if An defeats his opponent in the last match of the group stage, he will win the right to enter the semi-finals of Boxing.

In addition, some promising young faces worth noting are: Vo Xuan Hai (Vo Xuan Thanh's younger brother), just turned 14, but has already trained a mature fighting style, perfect technique and sharp punches. At the 2013 National Kick Boxing Youth Championship, Vo Xuan Hai was one of the most impressive athletes to the experts and he won the gold medal in the youth age group. Another young face is Pham Van Yen, this athlete won 1 silver medal at the National Traditional Martial Arts Championship, 1 silver medal at the Kick Boxing Club Cup and was called to the national team to participate in the Asian Kick Boxing Championship held in Korea, but due to being too young and lacking experience, he has not achieved significant results in the big playground.

As one of the key sports of Nghe An, Traditional Martial Arts - Boxing - Kick Boxing is expected to contribute many medals to help Nghe An sports improve its position at the National Sports Festival in 2014.
