Traditional meeting to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the founding of Division 316

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 27, in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu), the Traditional Liaison Committee of Division 316 in Quynh Luu area and Hoang Mai town held a traditional meeting.

The meeting was attended by comrades who are leaders of the division, its affiliated regiments and battalions through the periods and more than 100 veterans of the division.

After its establishment on May 1, 1951, Division 316 fought on all battlefields, from the war of liberation to the war to defend the fatherland, participating in 18 major campaigns and thousands of battles... achieving many resounding victories.

In the fall and winter of 1953-1954, after destroying the enemy and liberating Lai Chau province, the 316th Division, consisting of 3 Regiments: 98, 174 and a number of subordinate units, under the orders of the Ministry of National Defense, advanced to the east of Dien Bien Phu, forming a siege of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold of the French expeditionary army. During the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the 316th Division operated over a large area, from Lai Chau to the provinces of Northern Laos; from Khe Chit, Pu Hong Meo to Muong Cha, Muong Nhe, A Pa Chai and Tuan Giao crossroads.

The division was assigned to attack the strongholds A1, C1 and C2, the eastern steel gate of Dien Bien Phu. In difficult and arduous conditions, the soldiers of the 316th division still persistently stuck with the enemy, with heavy guns and ammunition on their shoulders, secretly penetrated deep into the enemy's lair to fight and achieve victory.

With courage, determination to die for the Fatherland, and the spirit of self-sacrifice, intelligence, and creativity, generations of officers and soldiers of the 316th Division fought bravely, achieving resounding victories in Ta Leng, Doi Xanh, Doi Chay, ... Especially, in the attack to destroy the strongholds A1, C1 and C2, officers and soldiers of the Division opened the eastern door, creating a position for our army to capture the center of Muong Thanh, destroying all enemy troops at the Dien Bien Phu stronghold complex.

This is the 14th time that Division 316 in Quynh Luu and Hoang Mai Town has organized a meeting, an opportunity for the veterans to review the heroic feats and traditions of Division 316, encourage each other to continue promoting the traditions of the heroic Division 316, and together overcome all difficulties in life and work./
