Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Sabaruddin congratulated Ambassador Le Huy Hoang on his new position and expressed his hope that the Ambassador will make many important contributions to further strengthening solidarity, consensus and close cooperation in the ASEAN Community in Pretoria, while promoting all-round relations between ASEAN countries and the host country.

In an interview with a VNA reporter in South Africa, Ambassador Le Huy Hoang said that this is an honor, but also a great responsibility for the Ambassador personally and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy.

The Ambassador said that during the next 6-month term, as coordinator, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa will work with other ASEAN embassies in South Africa to organize activities to promote the image and enhance the position of ASEAN member countries.

In parallel with these activities, the ASEAN Committee in Pretoria will organize a promotion of investment, trade and tourism potential.

In the immediate future, during the State of the Nation Address by South African President, Mr. Jacob Zuma, in early 2014, the ASEAN Committee will meet with leaders of the National Assembly and the Diplomatic Corps in South Africa to exchange information and discuss measures to promote cooperation.

An ASEAN fair is also scheduled to be held during this term.
