Vehicle models manufactured, imported and distributed by TMV under this recall campaign will include Innova, Fortuner and Hilux.

According to the latest announcement from TMV, the total number of vehicles affected by this recall campaign is 43,037, of which 40,241 are Innova vehicles manufactured from January 7, 2006 to January 15, 2010; 2,531 are Fortuner vehicles manufactured from February 16, 2009 to January 19, 2010 and 265 are Hilux vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2009 to December 8, 2009.

Information from Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan said that vehicles with a condition where the cable in the driver's side airbag's spiral cable assembly is likely to rub against the guide part of the spiral cable assembly when steering, causing scratches on the cable surface.

This failure could cause the circuit connecting to the driver's airbag to become open, resulting in a loss of communication with the driver's airbag. If this connection is lost, the airbag warning light will illuminate and the driver's airbag may not deploy in a crash.

With detailed information and instructions from Toyota Motor Corporation Japan, TMV will conduct inspection and free replacement of the entire spiral cable assembly of the driver's side airbag on all vehicles affected by this campaign.

Currently, TMV has completed reporting to the Vietnam Register about the campaign content, as well as urgently preparing the necessary work to be able to start implementing the recall campaign as soon as possible.

TMV will officially and specifically inform customers and Vietnamese press agencies about the content and implementation of the recall campaign immediately after receiving approval from the Vietnam Register./.
