The US deploys 600 troops to Poland and the Baltic states.
AFP reported that the Pentagon announced on April 22 that the US would deploy approximately 600 troops to Poland and the Baltic states to underscore Washington's commitment to its NATO allies amid tensions with Russia over the situation in Ukraine.
Speaking at a press conference, Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said that a company of 150 soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade based in Italy would arrive in Poland on April 23, and approximately 450 more soldiers would arrive in Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia in the coming days.
