At least 1,000 police officers dispersed the protesters, who stretched from the Royal Palace's Royal Plaza to the United Nations headquarters, an area that has been occupied by protesters since November 2013.
Witnesses said some police officers carried guns but most police carried only batons and shields.
Some protesters have spoken out against this, but Thai police have encountered little resistance from protesters in carrying out their work.
The area occupied by protesters is located in the center of Bangkok, with many important buildings such as the Government headquarters and the Metropolitan Police Department.
However, this is not one of the three largest protest sites in Bangkok where the number of protesters has rapidly decreased from hundreds of thousands to many small groups.
Earlier, Thai protesters prevented many people from voting in the general election on February 2. They demanded a complete change in election regulations before a new election was held and pledged to continue the protest campaign.
