More than 2 billion VND to Truong Sa and DK1 Platform

(Baonghean.vn) - During the working trip of delegation No. 5 including representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Central Propaganda Department, the Military Logistics Department of the Ministry of National Defense, and officials of central departments and agencies, and localities to visit and work at Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 Platform, more than 2 billion VND in cash and gifts were sent to officers, soldiers and people.

(Baonghean.vn) - During the working trip of delegation No. 5 including representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Central Propaganda Department, the Military Logistics Department of the Ministry of National Defense, and officials of central departments and agencies, and localities to visit and work at Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 Platform, more than 2 billion VND in cash and gifts were sent to officers, soldiers and people.

On the afternoon of April 27, at Naval Region 2, Vung Tau City, the Navy Command held a ceremony to summarize the working trip of the No. 5 delegation to Truong Sa and DK1 platform. After nearly 10 days of working on the islands of the Truong Sa archipelago as well as the DK1 platforms on the southern continental shelf, the delegates had the opportunity to learn about and survey the lives, activities and working environment of the officers, soldiers and people on the islands as well as on the DK1 platform. At the locations visited by the delegation, the organizing committee presented gifts and cash to the officers and people. According to the Navy Command's statistics, more than 2 billion VND in cash and gifts were sent by the delegation to the officers, soldiers and people on the Truong Sa archipelago as well as on the DK1 platform.

During the working program, at Truong Sa Lon Island, Truong Sa archipelago, the Ministry of Information and Communications held the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Hoang Sa, Truong Sa of Vietnam – Historical evidence” to serve the cadres, soldiers and people in Truong Sa town. This is a practical communication activity, aiming to encourage and motivate cadres, soldiers and people on the islands to always keep their guns steady, firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

The maps and documents displayed on the islands also help officials and people from the mainland and overseas Vietnamese when visiting the islands to better understand the historical and legal evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, contributing to raising awareness, solidarity and sense of responsibility of the people in the country, overseas Vietnamese, especially the youth in protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland.

The maps and documents on display are historical and legal evidence proving Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. The documents show that the Vietnamese states, from the feudal period, through many decades of invasion and occupation, have explored, established, enforced and protected national sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. This is a continuous, long-term, peaceful process, recorded in many historical sources of Vietnam and other countries.

The exhibition includes main groups of documents such as: Documents issued by the Vietnamese feudal court from the 17th century to the early 20th century, affirming that Vietnam had established and continuously exercised sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Notably, there is a collection of 19 royal documents of the Nguyen Dynasty, dating from the Minh Mang Dynasty (1820-1841) to the Bao Dai Dynasty (1925-1945), reflecting the process of establishing and protecting sovereignty continuously under the Nguyen Dynasty, researched, selected, translated, published by the National Border Committee (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and collected and donated by researcher Phan Thuan An.

The atlas includes 60 maps proving Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, published by Vietnam, the West and China from the 16th century to the present; versions of 15 administrative documents of France and the Republic of Vietnam on the exercise of sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago; versions of 5 Han Nom documents from the 2nd year of Gia Long (1803) to the 17th year of Minh Mang (1836) recording the establishment of an army to survey the Hoang Sa envoys.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Khanh Hoa provincial post office to establish a cultural post office in Truong Sa town and Sinh Ton island commune - Truong Sa island district, and presented a set of maps and historical documents proving Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa to Sinh Ton and Nam Yet island communes in Truong Sa archipelago, and presented 70 digital receivers and dozens of SIM cards to officers, soldiers and people on Truong Sa archipelago to meet the information needs and improve the spiritual life of officers, soldiers and people on the islands.

At the end of the working trip, the Navy Command awarded medals for the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the fatherland, Truong Sa soldier badges to the delegates and presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.
