(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 28th, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to review the first six months of implementing forest protection and development tasks and to deploy some key tasks for the last six months of 2014.

In the first six months of 2014, units and forest owners coordinated with local authorities and relevant organizations to promote and encourage people to protect nearly 900,000 hectares of existing forest area (achieving 100% of the plan), enclose and nurture 82,300 hectares, and care for 21,500 hectares… Projects, units, businesses, and households are currently organizing the development, care, and replanting of 21,370 hectares effectively. Currently, the total area of ​​concentrated planted forests in the entire province is over 9,200 hectares. 4.3 million scattered trees have been planted, reaching 86% of the plan. Forest exploitation and utilization targets are being met according to plan.

From the beginning of 2014 to the present, the entire province has detected and apprehended 534 cases of violations of forestry laws, handled 475 cases administratively, confiscated over 1,314 cubic meters of various types of wood, and collected over 8 billion VND for the state budget. During the same period, the province also experienced 23 forest fires, with a total burned area of ​​151 hectares. Forest pest and disease control has always been a priority, but due to complex weather patterns, pests and diseases have emerged and developed, especially the caterpillar damaging pine forests…
