Government agencies and localities visit, give gifts, and extend New Year greetings to poor households.

(Baonghean.vn) -On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2014 (Year of the Horse), on January 21st, agencies, departments, and organizations visited and presented Tet gifts to people in various localities throughout the province.

On the morning of January 21st, Comrade Ho Phuc Hop - Provincial Party Committee member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, along with a delegation of officials representing the department's leadership and specialized departments, visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families and families in difficult circumstances in Thanh An commune, a poor commune that the Mass Mobilization Department regularly assists according to the policy and assignment of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

Visiting the families receiving preferential treatment directly, Comrade Ho Phuc Hop encouraged them and expressed his hope that these families would overcome their circumstances and difficulties to become role models for the people in the commune. For families facing hardship, he listened to their concerns and aspirations, and expressed confidence that in the future, the People's Mobilization Committee would undertake more practical actions to support the people of Thanh An both spiritually and materially, especially in helping them develop their economy.

Sixty gift packages, totaling over 20 million VND, were distributed to 60 recipients as a gesture of goodwill from the staff and employees of the committee, with support from the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Red Cross, and the Can Linh Ancestral Temple, in response to the 2014 Tet (Lunar New Year) campaign for the poor. This timely support and encouragement provided policy beneficiary families and impoverished households in Thanh An commune, enabling them to celebrate the Year of the Horse in a warm and joyful atmosphere, and further reinforcing people's faith in the programs and policies of the Party, the State, and the province.

On the morning of January 21st, Mr. Pham Van Tan, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province, along with representatives from several provincial departments and agencies, visited and extended New Year greetings to leaders and some families receiving preferential treatment in Yen Thanh district.

Comrade Pham Van Tan and the delegation extended New Year greetings and inquired about the health of the families of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thinh and Mrs. Vu Thi Thoan - the parents of two martyrs from the resistance war against the US.

At the District Military Command, the delegation visited and encouraged the officers and soldiers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. On behalf of the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Khoa - head of the Yen Thanh District Military Command - gave a brief report on the local situation, the achievements of the past year, and the direction and tasks for the new year. Comrade Pham Van Tan inquired about the general situation of the district military command, praised the achievements of the district military command, and encouraged the officers and soldiers to complete their tasks well, especially during and after the Year of the Horse Lunar New Year.

Next, the delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to the Yen Thanh District Police. As one of the localities with a large population, vast area, and diverse religions, the security situation is relatively complex. However, in the past year, the Yen Thanh District Police have performed very well in combating crime and protecting national security, successfully completing the tasks assigned by their superiors. On behalf of the Yen Thanh District Police, Colonel Le Xuan Diep briefly reported on the security situation in the district and thanked the delegation for their visit and encouragement. The officers and soldiers of the Yen Thanh District Police also pledged to do their best in their duties, ensuring that the people can enjoy a warm and peaceful Tet holiday.

The delegation also visited and presented gifts to the families of policy beneficiaries, including Mrs. Phan Thi Ba (113 years old, residing in Hamlet 6, Tang Thanh Commune); the family of veteran revolutionary cadre Tran Huu Nam (89 years old, residing in Hamlet 6, Bac Thanh Commune); the family of Mr. Tran Dinh Thinh (94 years old) and Mrs. Vu Thi Thoan (87 years old) in Hamlet 9, Xuan Thanh Commune, whose two children sacrificed their lives on the battlefield; and the family of Mrs. Le Thi Ke (104 years old, residing in Hamlet 3, Yen Thanh Town), a policy beneficiary family with contributions to the revolution.

The Nghe An Provincial Military Command has allocated funds from its "Personal Savings for the Needy" Fund and its "Tet for the Poor" Fund to organize a delegation to present 40 Tet gifts (each worth 500,000 VND) to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies in Ngoc Lam and Thanh Son communes of Thanh Chuong district.

These are two mountainous communes, located near the border, newly established in 2006. The population mainly consists of ethnic minorities such as the Thai, Khmu, and Mong people, who were relocated from the Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir area in Tuong Duong district. Therefore, their lives are still difficult, and many households remain poor. Leading the delegation, Colonel Luong Hong Phong, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, emphasized: “Through this visit and gift-giving, the unit wants to gain a thorough understanding of the actual situation of the people after resettlement, and hopes to contribute a small part to help poor families and families receiving preferential treatment alleviate their difficulties and have a warmer and happier New Year…”

Nguyen Phong Quang

In addition to Tet gifts from the central and provincial governments, for the Year of the Horse Tet, the Tan Ky District People's Committee allocated 210 million VND to give gifts to 1,900 individuals who participated in the resistance movement and were awarded Resistance Medals and Victory Medals by the State, and who are still alive and not receiving monthly allowances. Among these, 25 gifts were given to exemplary policy beneficiary families in difficult circumstances, each gift worth 800,000 VND.

Leaders of the Tan Ky District People's Committee presented gifts to Mrs. Dang Thi Huu, the mother of a fallen soldier who is in difficult circumstances, in Hanh Phong hamlet, Nghia Hoan commune.

Currently, localities in the district have been distributing rice to poor and needy households, with an average of 15 kg of rice per person, along with Tet gifts from the State for poor households (100,000 VND/household); and Tet gifts for the elderly and children in difficult circumstances.

Through Nghe An Newspaper, on January 21st, Intimex Vietnam Company - Nghe An Branch presented a gift worth 1 million VND to the family of Mr. Dao Duc in Hamlet 5, Dien Hai Commune, Dien Chau District.

Representatives from Nghe An Newspaper presented gifts to Mr. Dao Duc's family in the presence of representatives from the Dien Hai commune leadership (Dien Chau district).

Mr. and Mrs. Dao Duc and Le Thi Nguyet (born in 1960) suffer from intellectual disability and have four daughters who are also affected intellectually. The family of six relies solely on the income from their eldest daughter's vegetable stall and the meager earnings of their second daughter working in Binh Duong province. Aware of their difficult circumstances, Intimex Vietnam Company - Nghe An Branch, through the Nghe An newspaper, presented a gift of 1 million VND to support the family in celebrating the 2014 Lunar New Year.

Dam Phuong

On the morning of January 21st, representatives from the Hung Nguyen District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department visited, presented gifts, and offered encouragement to the family of Ms. Ho Thi Tram in Hamlet 7, Hung My Commune, whose two children are seriously ill.

Ms. Tram's family has three children, two of whom, Le Tuan Anh, 25, and Le Huu Phuoc, 15, suffer from long-term illnesses, requiring their parents to care for them. Their father, Le Dinh Thu, served in the army from 1981 to 1988 in the border region of Phu Xat province in Cambodia. Their maternal grandfather, Ho Xuan Canh, enlisted in 1961 and died in 1969, having participated in the Central Highlands campaign.

This is a practical activity aimed at supporting poor and disadvantaged families, and victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.
