Quynh Luu: Opening swimming classes to prevent drowning for children

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 16, at the swimming pool of Quynh Doi commune (Quynh Luu), the district's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the district's Sports Center to organize the opening of a swimming class to prevent drowning for children.

Quynh Luu district has a complex natural terrain, many streams, river mouths, creeks, ponds, lakes and 9 coastal communes. Therefore, the situation of children drowning occurs annually in the area is quite large, each year there are from 20 to 25 children drowning. In this situation, to prevent drowning for children, in recent years, Party committees, authorities, and socio-political organizations have taken many measures to lead and organize propaganda work on the harmful effects of drowning. Many recreational activities are organized to attract children to participate. However, due to the complex terrain and the unconsciousness, curiosity of children to explore as well as the carelessness of parents, drowning still occurs frequently in localities in the district.

To prevent and minimize the harmful effects of drowning on children, with the attention of the Department of Child Protection and Care - Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the province, Quynh Luu district organized a swimming class for children. The class was attended by 30 children from 3 communes of Quynh Doi, Quynh Yen and Quynh Thanh. The class will take place for 7 days, under the guidance of teachers who are officers of the district Sports Center. Participating in the swimming class, children will be taught contents such as some things to avoid when swimming; some swimming techniques; practice floating; wall-climbing; crawling leg techniques...

Through swimming classes, children will be equipped with swimming techniques to be able to escape dangerous situations on their own when they arise.
