Handling 347 establishments violating food hygiene and safety quality

(Baonghean.vn) -During the Month of Action for Food Safety and Hygiene in 2014 (from April 15 to May 15, 2014), the province established 466 interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct inspections at facilities.

The inspection teams have inspected 8,236 food production and trading establishments, catering services, and collective kitchens under the management authority in the area, thereby detecting 1,382 establishments in violation. The inspection teams have handled 347 establishments in violation, including: closing 02 establishments; suspending the circulation of 5 types of products at 7 establishments; fining 32 establishments with a total amount of 22.6 million VND; destroying products of 138 establishments with a total value of about 65 million VND; requiring 20 other establishments to correct labeling...

The main violations detected are: Violations of regulations on the use of food ingredients in food production and processing; Violations of regulations on the use of chemicals in food production and processing; Violations of regulations on training in food safety knowledge, technical staff, technical employees in the production and trading of food, food additives, food processing aids, tools, and food packaging materials; Violations of regulations on food safety practices in the production and trading of food, food additives, food processing aids, tools, and food packaging materials.

In general, all levels of government from the province to the district and commune levels have seriously implemented the "Month of action for food hygiene and safety" in 2014; Most food production, trading and processing establishments have recognized the importance of ensuring food safety... However, in some localities, the implementation of the food safety plan during the month of action has been slower than prescribed and inter-sectoral coordination has not been tight; In some mountainous, remote and isolated districts, food safety management has not met the requirements of the law, and administrative violations have not been strictly handled, mainly by warnings.
