On April 6, some workers of Bien Xanh Aquaculture Joint Stock Company were using excavators to dig a shrimp pond in Dong Thanh hamlet, Quynh Lap commune (Hoang Ma town) when they suddenly discovered large and unusually shaped bones. Immediately, some workers who discovered the discovery reported the incident to the company's board of directors and local authorities. After excavating and bringing all the bones up to the surface, the locals determined that the bones belonged to a large whale, which the fishermen in the coastal area respectfully call "Ca Ong".

According to the elders in the village, a long time ago, the first fishermen in the sea here discovered the body of a giant fish drifting ashore, considering it a good omen, they buried it and built a temple to worship it. The temple has been in the area for hundreds of years, so it is possible that "He" has also been buried here for hundreds of years.

After the discovery, the local authorities reported to the Department of Culture of Hoang Mai town to ask for instructions. On the morning of April 9, the entire whale skeleton was buried by the people at a location right next to the temple that has been around for hundreds of years, in accordance with local customs.
