(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 17th, at Hung Phuc Ward Stadium, Vinh City, the Nghe An Journalists Association held the closing ceremony of the journalists' sports competition to commemorate the 89th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day in 2014.
Attending the ceremony were: Comrade Le Ba Hung – Provincial Party Committee member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Pham Thi Hong Toan – Provincial Party Committee member, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper; Ho Quang Thanh – Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Information and Communications; Tran Duy Ngoan - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association… along with a large number of athletes.

The Nghe An Journalists' Sports Tournament is a traditional annual event organized by the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association for reporters, journalists, and media management agencies in the province. This year, the tournament included athletes from the Association of Former Soldiers Imprisoned by the Enemy in Nghe An Province. The tournament took place from June 15-17, featuring athletes in football, table tennis, badminton, and chess. Following exciting matches, the Organizing Committee identified the outstanding athletes and teams and awarded prizes in each category at the closing ceremony.

Participating in the tournament, athletes from Nghe An Newspaper achieved many high rankings. In badminton, the pair Tran Van Hung – Le Van Canh won first place in the men's doubles over 40 years old. The pair Minh Quan – Thanh Hai won second place in the men's doubles under 40 years old. In chess, athlete Ngo Nhat Lan won third place. Also in the chess competition against athletes from the Association of Revolutionary Soldiers who were captured and exiled by the enemy in Nghe An province, athlete Ngo Nhat Lan won second place. In table tennis, in the men's singles over 40 years old, athlete Hoang Vinh won first place, and athlete Van Truong won second place. This pair also won second place in the men's doubles.

In the football competition, the players from the Nghe An Press Union won the championship; the Nghe An Department of Information and Communications came in second, and the Nghe An Police Newspaper and Military Region 4 Newspaper Union team came in third.
