400 workers have been selected to work in South Korea.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 1st, the Center for Overseas Labor, in coordination with the Vietnam-Korea Industrial Economics and Technology Vocational College, held the Opening Ceremony for the training course on essential knowledge and supplementary Korean language preparation for workers before going to work in South Korea under the EPS program.

This is the first training course after many years of interruption in sending Vietnamese workers to South Korea. Attending are 400 trainees from provinces and cities in the North Central region, who passed the Korean language proficiency test in December 2011, May 2012, August 2013, and April 2004 and were selected by Korean businesses through preliminary rounds. Over the course of one week, the trainees will review and supplement their Korean language skills, as well as knowledge of Korean law, culture, customs, and daily life. The purpose of the course is to equip workers with the necessary knowledge to facilitate their employment in South Korea.

The issuance of work permits for Vietnamese workers in South Korea resumed in December 2013, following the signing of a "Special Memorandum of Understanding on the dispatch of workers to South Korea under the Work Permit Program" by the Korean Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. As a result, over 3,000 Vietnamese workers have been selected by Korean employers, with approximately 2,000 having already worked and returned after their contracts expired. Currently, around 9,000 applications remain pending, despite having passed the Korean language proficiency tests.
