Additional more than 80 billion VND and 12 ventilators to prevent epidemics

The Prime Minister has just signed Decision (No. 549/QD-TTg, dated April 17, 2014) to provide national reserve equipment and supplement funding for the Ministry of Health to prevent and fight epidemics.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health provided (free of charge) 12 high-function ventilators from the national reserve to equip 3 hospitals to serve emergency work, treat people with epidemics and serve the medical examination and treatment needs of the people, specifically: 4 machines at the National Children's Hospital; 4 machines at Thanh Nhan Hospital; 4 machines at Dong Da Hospital.

The issuance and management of the above ventilators are carried out in accordance with current regulations.

The Prime Minister also decided to add 80.875 billion VND to the Ministry of Health from the 2014 central budget reserve to purchase some equipment for: Bach Mai Hospital, National Children's Hospital, National Tropical Hospital and to buy Gamaglobulin medicine to serve the work of disease prevention and control.

The Ministry of Health is responsible for reporting data, managing and using the above funds thoroughly, economically and in accordance with regulations.

Regarding the mechanism and policy for measles prevention (preventive treatment with Gamaglobulin and epidemic prevention allowance), implement as proposed by the Ministry of Health in Official Dispatch No. 1977/BYT-KHTC. The Ministry of Health coordinates with the Ministry of Finance to implement.

Yesterday (April 16), Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung issued an official dispatch requesting ministries, branches and localities to focus on preventing and fighting measles, proactively stopping the spread of the disease, and minimizing the number of people infected and dying from measles.

Previously, the Prime Minister also directed the Ministry of Health to provide (free of charge) 22 high-function ventilators and 8 medium-function ventilators from the national reserve to equip 4 hospitals to serve emergency work, treat people with measles and flu, and serve the people's medical examination and treatment needs.

Specifically, Bach Mai Hospital was provided with 10 machines; Central Tropical Hospital 8 machines; Central Children's Hospital 8 machines; and Saint Paul Hospital 4 machines.
