The Hindustan Times reported on June 10 that, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon visit China.

The invitation was conveyed to Mr Modi by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping, at a meeting on June 9 during his two-day visit to India.

During the 45-minute meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Mr. Wang Yi also conveyed to Mr. Modi a message from Mr. Xi Jinping saying that "under your leadership, India will achieve greater progress and development. New Delhi and Beijing are long-term strategic cooperative partners."

Foreign Minister Wang Yi also touted China’s capabilities in infrastructure and manufacturing, and praised the “wind of change” in India under the new government.

Despite friendly relations, China's issuance of visas to residents of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, which China claims as its own, remains a thorny issue that has delayed a visa agreement between the two countries in the past, the newspaper said.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Mr. Wang Yi stated: "The visa issue is a matter of goodwill" and affirmed that China's stance has not changed.

However, he stressed that the two countries are capable of resolving border disputes./.
