Ukrainian Presidential Election: "Chocolate King" Poroshenko Wins Overwhelming Victory

Businessman Petro Poroshenko, known as the “Chocolate King,” won with 55.9% of the vote.

This is the preliminary poll result announced right after the polling stations of the early presidential election in Ukraine closed on May 25.

Coming in second in the election was former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko with 12.9% of the vote. Candidate Oleh Lyashko only won 8% of the vote.

Thus, it is likely that Ukraine will not have to hold the second round of the presidential election, scheduled for June 15. The final results will be officially announced on May 26./.
