Continuing the heroic spirit of Vinh - Ben Thuy workers

(Baonghean) - From the beginning of the 20th century to the present, the history of Vietnam in general and the history of Nghe An in particular have gone through many different stages. During that 100-year journey, the working class has been the core, pioneering force, leading in all movements. This is the important factor that has brought the development of the province to new heights.

Pioneer, vanguard

In the memories of the old generation of workers at Truong Thi - Ben Thuy, the "early" period of activities was always the most exciting days. It was the hardships and dangers that helped them grow up. Like Mr. Nguyen Khang (Block 2, Doi Cung Ward), his whole family were workers at the Truong Thi Railway Factory. He had the opportunity to meet his brothers in the Viet Minh Front and was guided by them to follow the revolution. Later, when he grew up, went to school and held many important positions, the first lessons of his time as a worker at Truong Thi always followed him throughout his life.

The historical vortex with many important events also created a unique feature of the Vinh - Ben Thuy class. They not only had a large force but were also the pioneer force along with the peasant class to create the revolutionary climax of 1930 - 1931. The working class contributed significantly to creating the new urban face of Vinh, helping Vinh become a large-scale concentrated industrial - commercial center with many industries such as mechanical repair of locomotives and wagons, electricity production, sawing and sawing wood for export, which was considered the most modern in Central Vietnam.

Workers are always the pioneers in construction movements, emulation movements and are the pioneers in creating material wealth not only to serve the rear but also to support the Southern battlefield. Growing up as a worker at Dong Hieu Forestry in the first phase of the resistance war against the US, later working with the Nghe An working class for more than 40 years in the position of Deputy Head of Propaganda Department of the Provincial Labor Federation, Mr. Nguyen Van Hue said: The greatest contribution of the province's working force is to create a solid belief for those going to war... They are the transport workers who dig mountains day and night, open roads to ensure the safety of vehicles going from North to South. They are the mechanical workers, working hard in factories and enterprises to create material wealth to serve the rear and the front. In the forestry and farm fields, workers participate in the production of food and necessities... Workers also participate in the reconstruction of Vinh City, building key projects such as headquarters, schools, factories...

Steadfast on the path of innovation

The South was liberated, the country was unified, peace was restored, with that exciting spirit, the Nghe An workers were given more strength in the work of building and developing the country. Although he had been retired for nearly twenty years, Mr. Nguyen Van Quy, former Principal of the Provincial Trade Union School, still felt as excited as ever when he was able to "stay undercover" with the workers, and directly work with the workers in the factories. That was also the period when the whole country entered the implementation of the 5-year plans. Wherever he went, in whichever factory, the production movement and the emulation to innovate and innovate in science and technology were carried out vigorously.

Just counting some major industries, in the two years 1982 - 1983 (of the 5-year plan 1981 - 1985), the workforce developed 4,159 initiatives, making a profit of more than 11 billion VND and saving nearly 5 billion VND in materials. During that period, provincial union officials did not return home for Tet but instead traveled alone by bicycle from Vinh to Khe Bo to celebrate Tet with coal miners.

Currently, with more than 260,000 workers, we have a large workforce. Of which, skilled workers account for about 45%. The working class has contributed to the transformation of the economic and labor structure, increased budget revenue, contributed to building and consolidating the great national unity bloc, and completed the socio-economic development goals of the province. In the past 5 years, 55% of workers have achieved the title of advanced workers, nearly 85% of female workers have achieved the title of "good at public work, good at housework", more than 23,000 initiatives and experiences implemented by workers have been effectively applied to production, 36 topics have been awarded creative labor certificates by the General Confederation of Labor. The activities of enterprises and workers have contributed nearly 46% of the province's annual production value.

Sharing about the role of the current working class, Mr. Vo Minh Tuan (Nghe An Food Joint Stock Company), who just won the Nguyen Duc Canh Award in 2013 with many valuable initiatives and experiences that saved billions of VND such as: the initiative to manufacture a passion fruit cutting machine, the initiative to manufacture a fruit squeezing machine, said: To become a good worker, one must first be properly trained, must have passion and must be confident, dare to express one's ideas. On the contrary, the employer must also know how to listen to the workers, not be afraid of failure but trust in them, give them opportunities so that each individual has the conditions to assert themselves.

Thus, it can be seen that the working force must always be the pioneer, must always be dynamic, creative, and proactive in production labor. Because currently, the working force ofWe are “many” but not “refined”, the number of unskilled workers is still high, there is a lack of technical experts, good managers, and skilled workers. Industrial style and labor discipline of workers are still weak, not creating prestige for domestic and foreign enterprises, living conditions of workers in many places are still lower than the general living standard.

In the coming time, to better implement Resolution 20 on "Continuing to build the Vietnamese working class in the period of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country", it is necessary for the province and related departments to innovate and pay more attention to the working force, considering this as the core and pioneering force on both the production front and the political front. It is necessary to pay attention to vocational training, taking care of the spiritual and material life of workers. Strengthening the inspection and supervision of the implementation of labor policies and perfecting policies for enterprises and workers...
